System Description

Every BIOCON system consists of the following critical components :

   1.  TREATMENT TANK
It's a tank of cylindrical shape, where all relevant processes take place. Its internal part
consists of two chambers divided by a stainless steel screen of 2mm mesh for retaining
coarse particles. The first chamber is where the sewage inlet comes in, the macerator
pump is mounted and the outlet of the recirculation pump is also coming connecting the
fluids of the two chambers. In the second chamber exist three settling departments with
   interconnecting outlets for the recirculation.

    1.1  COARSE PARTICLE RETENTION SCREEN
This is a screen fitted inside the treatment tank. It has a mesh of 2mm and is intended to
keep sewage particles more than 2mm inside the first tank chamber for further breaking
and macerating until they pass the screen. It is placed vertically up to the upper part of
the tank and can be easily dismounted for cleaning. From the inspection door the screen
status can be evaluated for further cleaning action to be taken. A manometer also has
been mounted on top of the first chamber, to indicate any reduction of the screen useful
   area from blockage.

   1.2  WATER SPRAY
Water is induced in the second tank champer by a vertical pipe just in front of the
retention screen and is supplied by a seawater pump. Its function is to clean the screen
as soon as sewage is entering the unit and also after the whole cycle has finished,
   during the discharge period.

   1.3  LEVEL INDICATORS
At the left hand side of the treatment tank beneath the electric box there is a vertical pipe
where externally are mounted three magnetic contacts. Inside this pipe there is a float
with a magnet on its top. Each magnetic contact is responsible for presetting the sewage,
   water and overfilling level.

   PUMPS

Every BIOCON system is equipped with several pumps suitable for different functions.

   2.  MACERATOR AND MINIMIZER PUMP
This component is the heart of every BIOCON system. It macerates all sewage coming
in making the fluid completely homogeneous in terms of suspended solid dimensions.
All solids are cut into 0.5-mm pieces suitable for further oxidation. This is not only a
macerator, but also a pump with a certain volume flow rate and manometric head. Its a
special construction made by TECHNI SA, every part of it made from 316 SS even the
   casted casing.

   3.  SPRAY WATER PUMP
This is a pump responsible for supplying water to the pipe sprayer for cleaning the
   retention screen.

   4.  RECIRCULATION AND OXIDATION PUMP
This pump recirculates continuously the content of the second chamber into the first
chamber by taking first the settled solids. Inside its suction there is a suitable pipe inducing
air into the sewage stream, mixing 100% air into the sewage volume every time for
   oxidation of the organic particles.

  5.  DISCHARGE PUMP
It is used to discharge overboard the treated and disinfected sewage.

   6.  SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE DOSING PUMP
This pump provides the necessary quantity of sodium hypochlorite solution inside the
treatment tank to disinfect the sewage from faecal coliforms and other bacteria. A certain
quantity is injected in every cycle.
